BISHOP’S STORTFORD
BESPOKE CRAFTSMANSHIP AND UNPARALLELED QUALITY
Layered with both tonal and textural contrast, this project included a bootroom, utility room and home office, featuring elements such as dark-stained grey oak cabinetry, Calacatta Hermitage stone worktops with its dramatic gold veining and soft brown undertones, reeded glass door cabinetry and flush-mounted Miele appliances. The result was one of warmth and sophistication, rich in craftsmanship, detailing and authenticity.
Each room flows naturally into the next through the curation of only the most exquisite materials available worldwide, intentional colour palette choices and material selection and hand-finished details. The quality of finish throughout, paired with our dedication to handcrafted excellence, created three beautiful spaces where every detail matters.
BESPOKE HOME STUDY
The desk serves as the focal point for this home study, combining dark-stained grey oak with leather-bronze inlay details, adding subtle richness that accents the sophisticated, warm palette. For a touch of luxury, we chose to add leather linings to the desk, maintaining our dedication to creating designs where every detail matters, even when they're only visible to you. Every component is hand-selected to ensure the end design is one that elevates the client's working patterns, with adequate drawer space, cabinetry storage, and shelving space to keep everything they need organised and within reach.
Behind the desk sits an impressive bookcase, with the soft, light tones of the whitewashed cabinet backs of the open shelving creating tonal contrast against the dark grey stained oak cabinetry, adding depth and warmth to the entire space. The concealed lighting subtly highlights the architectural details of the handcrafted bookcase, giving the design an air of prestige that makes the design feel truly special. The interplay between light and dark through contrasting wood tones and intentionally placed soft backlighting ensures the space feels peaceful, free from disruption, and perfect for undistracted work.
BESPOKE UTILITY ROOM
This utility room features dark-stained grey oak cabinetry with reeded glass door fronts on the upper cabinetry, providing both tonal and textural contrast to the rich, smooth oak fronts of the lower cabinetry. The dark wood finish, achieved by one of our master cabinet makers hand-staining our hand-selected solid grey oak, creates a space that reflects the beauty of traditional craftsmanship and handcrafted excellence, for a finish that feels layered with warmth and authenticity.
Bronze hardware catches the light beautifully against the deep grey oak, accenting the dark colour palette and pairing beautifully with the Calacatta Hermitage stone worktops. The bit's sweeping veins of
Renowned for its elegant, neo-Baroque style, the stone’s creamy ivory base and sweeping veins move through shades of gold, grey and copper, with subtle brown undertones. The result is one which complements the room’s chosen colour scheme, whilst serving as a focal wall that adds a dramatic yet sophisticated touch that elevates the entire space.
FIRST-CLASS MIELE APPLIANCES
Only the highest quality appliances are selected for our designs, each needing to meet our unmoving quality standards. For this utility room, we carefully selected flush-mounted Miele appliances, which integrate seamlessly within the bespoke cabinetry, maintaining the clean, uninterrupted lines whilst ensuring this utility room functions as beautifully as it looks.
Handcrafted full-height backlit reeded glass walnut cabinets, subtly showcasing the client's crockery and glassware, provide ample storage for household essentials, with the warm bronze hardware keeping the entire design cohesive.
BESPOKE BOOTROOM
The bespoke bootroom features dark-stained grey oak cabinetry, maintaining the material story from the other rooms, creating natural flow and design consistency throughout the home.
Bronze inlay details complement the rich colour palette of the space, bringing the same level of craftsmanship and commitment to absolute quality found elsewhere, as well as adding a touch of quiet luxury to everyday routines. Concealed lighting creates an ambient soft glow, maintaining the warm aesthetic and clean, minimalist design.
THE HAUHAU DIFFERENCE
Throughout this home, every detail was designed with purpose and pride. Luxury design is more than just how something looks—it’s about how it makes you feel. Whilst working across several rooms in the house, we focused on creating continuity between the rooms we worked on. From the dark-stained grey oak with its rich depth, the Calacatta Hermitage stone with its layers of gold and soft brown veins, and its brown-grey oak tones shifting subtly, to the tonal contrasts between the white-washed cabinet backs and its dark-stained fronts, our only goal is to create a one-of-a-kind unique design for each and every client whilst demonstrating HAUHAU’S dedication to handcrafted excellence, skilled craftsmanship, and commitment to absolute quality.
